Showcase

Dáil100

A bespoke content driven initiative by the Irish government to commemorate 100 years of political history designed to engage and educate across a diverse population.
Brief

Design a custom platform to house 100 year of political artefacts to celebrate the centenary of the formation of the Irish state. The content was gathered from across different departments and had specific needs in terms of presentation, accessibility and categorisation. We built a site to appeal to a whole population of users from school age children and teenagers, to their teachers, historians, press & publishing professionals, political history enjoyers across the country.

Summary

With oversight from the Principal UX Designer, I led the UX research and design process across persona development, user journey and sitemapping, navigational flow and testing. I created a new visual design system incorporating government branding while creating a distinct visual experience. I designed the interactive timeline to help tell the story and several custom internal layouts focussed on readability and accessibility.

The project was launched to immediate success, helping the public engage with the centenary celebrations that were kicked off in early 2019 and becoming the most popular online resource for teachers & educators looking for sources relating to this time period.

I’m currently working on developing this showcase into a full case study but you can contact me if you’d like more details.
